The selector’s committee of Pakistan Women’s named 15-member squad without appointing a captain to lead the team ahead of the Women’s World T20. Team management decided to wait for the seasoned captain Bismah Maroof’s recovery from the surgery. She recently underwent for the surgery of Sinus. In her absence, Javeria Khan led the team against Bangladesh Women’s and will do the same against Australia Women’s.
Team management is in no mood to take the risk for the marquee event so they will wait for Maroof to lead the side.
All about squad!
The squad has the same faces that played against Bangladesh Women’s and will feature in front of Australia Women’s.
In Javeria’s captaincy, Pakistan won the T20I series while lost the ODI which was a close encounter.
Bismah Maroof started his journey as an ODI captain of the team in 2017 when she replaced the regular skipper Sana Mir after the collapse of Pakistan Women’s in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. In that particular year, Bismah became the T20 skipper.
What’s next?
Australia will travel to Malaysia where Pakistan will host the three ODIs and three T20Is starting from October 18.
Pakistan will kick off their campaign in Women’s World T20 on November 9 against Australia. They will share the same group A with India, New Zealand and Ireland.
