PAK batsman doubtful for 3rd ODI after being hit on helmet

Pakistan batsman Imam-ul-Haq is doubtful for the third ODI against New Zealand as he is yet to recover from the injury he incurred in the second ODI. The opening batsman was rushed to the hospital after being hit on the helmet but fortunetly his scans are clear.

Imam faces serious injury 

During the second ODI against New Zealand, Pakistan opening batsman Imam-Ul-Haq was hit on the grill by a bouncer by pace bowler Lockie Ferguson. The left-hand batsman was beaten for pace as the ball crashed on his helmet even before he could get away from it.

The impact was ferocious as Imam dropped his bat immediately and was lying down on the floor with his eyes closed. He didn’t lose consciousness but was in  discomfort.

He received prompt medical attention from the support staff and some time later tried to stand again. But he was still in trouble and hence had to leave the field.

Imam rushed to hospital for scans

The left-hand batsman was then rushed to the hospital for precautionary scans. Fortunately for the team the scans came out clear and the batsman has joined the team.

But Pakistan team management has made it clear that they are closely monitoring Imam’s condition. This means that the batsman is not yet confirmed about playing in the third ODI.

The series so far

New Zealand won the first match of the ODI series courtesy of a terrific hat-trick by pacer Trent Boult. But in the second ODI, Pakistan made a solid comeback by winning the match by six wickets.

Despite Ross Taylor’s valiant 86, the Kiwi team managed to get only 209 runs. In response opening batsman Fakhar Zaman scored 86 runs and steered the team home.

The third match between the two teams will be played on 11th November.
