Sanju Samson NZ vs IND: In a massive breaking news development, India are not playing Sanju Samson in the must-win second ODI encounter against New Zealand scheduled to be played at the Seddon Park in Hamilton. The visiting Indian side ended up conceding a disappointing 7-wicket defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the first ODI game. The Kiwis have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
NZ vs IND: Why is Sanju Samson Not Playing Today’s New Zealand vs India 2nd ODI Match?
After losing yet another toss and being asked to bat first, Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan revealed that they have decided to replace Sanju Samson with Deepak Hooda for this 2nd ODI match against New Zealand. During the previous game, India definitely missed the services of a sixth bowling option especially with two debutant pacers in Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik, as a result, the visitors ended up failing to defend a total of 307 runs. On the other hand, Samson is once again quite unfortunate after having scored 36 runs and stitched a crucial half-century partnership with Shreyas Iyer. However, with the inclusion of Hooda, India will have the sixth bowling option and he can also contribute really well with the bat lower down the order.
“We would have bowled first as there’s moisture in the wicket. Even in the last game the wicket was seaming for the first 10-15 overs, we got to keep the positive intent and go for the runs. We got 2 changes. Instead of Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar comes in and Deepak Hooda comes in place of Sanju Samson. We only need 10 percent of improvement and it makes a huge impact and especially in the death bowling, we got to be a bit more smarter,” said Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan during the toss.
