Deepak Hooda NZ vs IND: In a massive breaking news update, India have unfortunately not included all-rounder Deepak Hooda in the playing XI for the opening ODI encounter against New Zealand scheduled to be contested at the Eden Park in Auckland. After winning the T20I series with a 1-0 scoreline, India will now be playing a three-match ODI series in New Zealand with an eye on next year’s 50-overs World Cup at home.
NZ vs IND: Why is Deepak Hooda Not Playing Today’s New Zealand vs India 1st ODI Match?
During the toss, Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan stated that they are playing with as many as five premier bowling options for this first ODI game against New Zealand. This also means that India will not have their sixth bowling option as Deepak Hooda has not been included in the side. During the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand, Hooda ended up taking a total of four wickets in the first T20I encounter. However, the Men in Blue have shown faith in Sanju Samson for the finisher’s role and playing five specialist bowlers, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh.
“It’s an amazing place, I enjoy playing over here. No issues batting first, I would have bowled first. I feel the wicket is a bit sticky but the sun is out and it should dry out soon. With this team, we have played a few series earlier as well. It’s a good opportunity for all the youngsters to perform and show their talents. We are very fortunate that we’ve got Indians all over the world and they keep supporting us, we are grateful for it. We’ve got 2 debutants – Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik,” said Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan during the toss.
