NZ vs ENG 2nd Test: England have suffered a massive blow ahead of the second test at Hamilton. Wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler may be on the sidelines after suffering a back spasm during training. England are 1-0 down in the two-match test series.
Joe Root gives an update on Buttler
“Jos has tweaked his back in the gym. We’ll have to find out a little bit more information on that throughout today and see where he’s at. We knew that this was a possibility when we selected the squad. I’m quite happy that Popey’s got the capability of doing a good job for us.”
Likely replacement
Ollie Pope will don the wicket-keeping gloves if Buttler misses out. As far as the make of the XI is concerned, Chris Woakes is expected to come into the XI.
ENG Playing 11 (expected): Burns, Sibley, Denly, Root, Stokes, Pope, Buttler/Woakes, S Curran, Archer, Broad, Leach.
NZ Playing 11 (expected): Raval, Latham, Williamson, Taylor, Nicholls, BJ Watling, Mitchell, Santner, Southee, Ferguson, Wagner
