Top order batsman Colin Munro has returned to the New Zealand team for the last ODI against Bangladesh while skipper Kane Williamson has been rested. New Zealand have already won the three-match ODI series by winning the first two ODIs.
Williamson rested ahead of the World Cup
With the ICC World Cup approaching, New Zealand team management have decided to rest their best batsman in the team and skipper Kane Williamson with an intention to manage his workload.
The right-hand batsman averages an astounding 45.90 in ODIs and has scored 5554 runs in 133 innings. He has also slammed 11 hundreds and 37 fifties.
He performed poorly in the ODI series against India and managed to score only one half-century in five innings. However he regained form in the ongoing series against Bangladesh and scored an unbeaten fifty in the second game.
Colln Munro returns to the team
The absence of Williamson opens up a spot in the top order and the team management has recalled Colin Munro to fill up that spot.
The left-hand batsman kept his hopes alive of getting selected for the World Cup by blasting a 40-ball-72-run knock against India in the third T20I.
New Zealand team selector Gavin Larsen had stated that they are happy with the combination of Henry Nicholls and Martin Guptill at the top. But with the World Cup approaching, the team management might want to give Munro another chance.
