‘India has the best chance to win a Test series down under,’ says Dean Jones
Former Australian player Dean Jones has said that India has the best chance to win a Test series down under. Keeping India above Australia ahead of the series, Dean Jones said that the hosts are depleted in strength in the absence of their premier batsman Steve Smith and David Warner, thus India are miles better than Australia.
“If India don’t win this series this time, they will never win in Australia. India are way ahead of Australia in all the formats, if their take on the hosts with a self-belief and their fast bowlers last the distance, they would definitely win the series,” he said.
“India’s Test history in Australia hasn’t been that great, but I expect the results to go in India’s favour by a scoreline of 2-0 or 3-0. I can’t see Australia winning a Test anywhere.”
“Australia would definitely miss the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner, who consistently score for the team. Usually, it is very difficult to beat Australia at home, but this time around things are completely different,” he added.
Trying to find a weakness in Kohli is like finding flaws in the Mona Lisa
He also went on to praise Indian skipper Virat Kohli for his spectacular form and compared the batsman with famous masterpiece Mona Lisa.
“Trying to find Kohli’s weakness is like trying to find something wrong with the Mona Lisa,” said Dean Jones.
“Australian players should not provoke him. Make him your best mate,” he cautioned.
India have lost their two away Test series in 2018. They suffered a 2-1 defeat in South Africa. England trumped India by 4-1 in the following tour. However, India start as favourites to win the series in Australia.
India is all set to take on Australia in the four-match rubber with the first Test match slated to start on 6 December in Adelaide.
