The 20-year old prodigy made the difference
India lost the Test series against England by 4-1 and the Indian cricket team is still bearing the brunt of the cricket experts. Indian team head coach, Ravi Shastri has said has also voiced his opinion about the reason of loss of Indian cricket team against England.
Praising Sam Curran, Shastri has said that it wasn’t the collective efforts from England but a sensational performance from Curran that hurt them the most.
Praising the 20-year old prodigy, Shastri said that his individual brilliance changed the direction of the game at crucial conjectures.
Virat and his men competed well in the series: Shastri
“I would accept that we failed badly. But we tried and we tried our level best. We must give the credit to the deserving ones. I and Virat were asked to choose the Man of the Series for England and both picked Sam Curran,” he said.

“See where Curran has scored, and, that is exactly where he hurt us. I would say, more than England it was Curran who hurt us.”
He also pointed out the scoreline of the Test series does not reflect the fight that Kohli and company put up.
Shastri then went on to point out the crucial phases where the all-rounder denied India a victory.
“In the first Test, England were batting on 87-7 at Edgbaston, at that point, Curran scored for England. In the fourth Test also, England were 86 for 6 in Southampton but he again got runs for them. He chipped in with runs and wickets and important points. That was the only difference between the two sides.”
Unperturbed by the critics
When asked if Shastri was affected by the criticism, he responded by saying, “Different people have different opinions. As long as we know that we are doing our job well, we are not bothered by the critics.”
India will now be playing in the Asia Cup 2018 where they will play against five teams of Asia in UAE to defend their crown of the supreme in an Asian nation.
India will then embark on the Australia tour which is slated to begin from November 21 with a three-match T20I series.
