Mumbai cricketers will soon have a structured graduation program tailored for them, as announced by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). This initiative, developed in collaboration with Mumbai University, is the first of its kind for any state cricket body. The program will focus on hands-on training, helping young players gain practical experience while also securing academic qualifications.
MCA also confirmed the return of the T20 Mumbai League, scheduled to begin on May 27, just two days after the IPL 2025 season concludes in Kolkata. The tournament, featuring eight teams from different parts of the city, is expected to give local talent a platform to compete at a high level.
In addition to these developments, MCA will send young players on a tour of the UK. The association plans to select promising cricketers for the trip, offering them exposure to international playing conditions and stronger competition. The experience will help them develop their game and prepare for higher levels of cricket.
MCA president Ajinkya Naik emphasized the association’s focus on supporting cricket’s growth in Mumbai. “We are committed to the growth and development of cricket in Mumbai. These decisions reflect our dedication to nurturing young talent, enhancing facilities, and providing international exposure to our players. We look forward to seeing these initiatives positively impact the cricketing community,” he said after the Apex Council meeting.
