N Srinivasan announces CSK’s future captain

Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful teams in the history of the IPL. Before coming into this year’s tournament they have managed to enter the playoffs every single time. But this year proved to be their worse year as they finished 7^th on the points table. More than the position, it was the manner in which they played the innings that invited criticism against the players. The man who faced the most criticism was their captain, MS Dhoni. He failed to make an impact with the bat and even failed to have a healthy strike rate. CSK management also openly voiced their displeasure in the turn of events that happened regarding the team this year. And to add to that the team boss N Srinivasan has recently given his choice for the CSK captain for the next edition in 2021.

New CSK captain?

Most CSK players are approaching their forties and many of them have already been retired from International cricket. Some of their mainstays like Shane Watson have even announced his retirement from the IPL recently. Taking that and the batting form of current CSK captain MS Dhoni into consideration, many have speculated that this might be MSD’s last IPL or at least his last stint as captain. To give clarity regarding the concern, the CSK boss N Srinivasan has issued a public statement, where he named the CSK captain for 2021.

It was none other than the Thala MS Dhoni itself.

“He will continue to lead Chennai Super Kings,” Srinivasan told Mumbai Mirror.

Is MS Dhoni willing to give up captaincy?

After the disappointing campaign of 2020, there were reports that CSK captain MS Dhoni is willing to give up the captaincy for the coming year. But no clarity regarding the same was given by franchise staffs in any of their meetings. Speaking about that, CSK boss N Srinivasan said that:
