MS Dhoni meme: Former Indian captain MS Dhoni getting run-out by Martin Guptill’s superb direct hit onto the stumps in that important India vs New Zealand semi-final encounter during the 2019 World Cup played is still one of the most painful sights to remember for all the Indian cricket fans. While batting at the score of 49 runs, Dhoni was looking well set to take India towards the final of the tournament but Guptill quashed all the hops with an incredible direct hit.
The same game also happened to be Dhoni’s last international match after he announced his retirement later on August 15, 2020. However, many of the cricket pundits and the fans still wonder why did the former Indian wicket-keeper batsman did not opt to make a dive during that penultimate situation in the semi-final. MS Dhoni is currently playing in the IPL 2021 season in his 200th match as captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team against the Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

After Suresh Raina got out for 18 off 15 balls and with the scorecard reading 125 for 5, CSK captain MS Dhoni arrived onto the crease. However, while facing only his second delivery of the match, Dhoni looked to take a risky single but then Ravindra Jadeja decided to send back his captain which forced the CSK batting legend to make an incredible full-length dive onto the crease. The third umpire was asked to check the run out appeal as Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper Sanju Samson was quick to remove the stumps but Dhoni had made it inside the line until then.

Surprisingly, this was the first moment in the history of the game when the fans got to witness Dhoni making a dive during his batting. And now the fans wonder why didn’t he went for the same during the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.
The same dive was required in world semifinals but anyway. #MSDhoni #CSKvRR #IPL2021
