Most Wickets in IPL: The much-awaited 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) kickstarted with a riveting encounter between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Kolkata Knight Riders got their fitting revenge beating CSK by a comprehensive margin of 6 wickets in the tournament opener. However, it turned out to be a historic moment for CSK’s Dwayne Bravo who is now the highest wicket-taker in the history of the cash-rich T20 league.

Chennai Super Kings’ veteran pacer Dwayne Bravo has now equalled Lasith Malinga’s record of most wickets in the history of the Indian Premier League. Bravo now has a total of 170 wickets from as many as 152 matches at an economy of less than 9. Former cricketer and current Rajasthan Royals bowling coach Malinga also has 170 IPL wickets in 122 games. The next three spots belong to Amit Mishra (166 wickets), Piyush Chawla (157 wickets) and Harbhajan Singh (150 wickets) in the list of highest wicket-takers in the T20 tournament.

Dwayne Bravo is also the highest wicket-taker in overall T20 cricket with a remarkable tally of 574 wickets from 522 matches. Imran Tahir is second on the list with a total of 451 scalps in 356 T20 games.

CSK vs KKR, IPL 2022
After losing a crucial toss and being asked to bat first, the Chennai Super Kings did not had the best of starts as they lost both of their openers, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway inside the first six overs of the powerplay. The defending champions slumped to 61 for 5 after 11 overs. However, former CSK captain MS Dhoni then played a very useful unbeaten innings of 50 runs off 38 balls to help his team reach 131 for 5 in their 20 overs with skipper Ravindra Jadeja scoring 26 not out. For Kolkata, Umesh Yadav bowled really well finishing with two vital wickets.

In reply, the Kolkata Knight Riders got home rather comfortably as they chased down the target of 132 runs with 9 balls to spare. Ajinkya Rahane contributed with a fine 44 runs off 34 balls while Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten till the end for a 20 not out.
