However, times have changed, and bowlers, especially the pacers, have managed to leave their mark on the field of cricket. The year 2022 was dominated by the pacers. Lesser number of tests were played in 2022 compared to the previous years. However, England, Australian, and South African pacers stood out in the test format. English spinner, Jack Leach bagged the top spot in the list of most wickets in tests in 2022. He claimed a 10-wicket haul and finished the year with 46 wickets in total. Further, South African speedster, Kagiso Rabada clipped 45 wickets in 2022. Rabada claimed 2 five-wicket hauls in the total of 8 matches that he featured in. No Indian player could breach the top 10 list.

Sompal Kami of Nepal followed Bilal and ranked second. He clipped 35 wickets in 20 games. Basil Ahmed, Bernard Scholtz, and Saurabh Netravalkar tied at 32 wickets each. Again, no Indian bowler was featured in the top 10 list. Mohammad Siraj finished 2022 as the highest Indian wicket-taker in 2022 with 24 wickets. But he ranks 15th in the overall list.
