Former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith holds the record for Most Test Hundreds as Captain with 25 tons to his name. The southpaw has arguably been the best Proteas skipper, that took team to new heights in Test cricket. The southpaw is also the best Test captain in the world. He captained South Africa in 109 Tests and won 53 matches out of them. Not only his leadership skills were praised, but he also led from the front and played some sensational knocks. Smith amassed 9265 runs in 117 Tests he played at an average of 48.2.

2. Virat Kohli – 20 centuries
Virat Kohli is credited for revolutionising Indian Test cricket. The right-hander led Team India for seven years at the helm and tasted huge success during his 7-year stint as the Indian Test captain. The 33-year-old led India to 40 wins from 68 matches at a win percentage of 58.92%, which makes him the most successful Indian skipper. Not only did he took Indian cricket to new heights with his captaincy, he also led from the front. He stands second on the list of Most Test Hundreds as Captain with 20 centuries to his name. He recently stepped down as skipper.

3. Ricky Ponting – 19 centuries
Not only in Test cricket but Ricky Ponting is also considered as the most successful Australian captain across all formats. ‘Punter’ finds himself third on the list of Most Test Hundreds as Captain with 19 centuries under his belt. It’ll be fair to say that Ponting was one of the best batsmen and leader, the game of cricket has ever seen. He’s Australia’s highest run-getter with 13378 runs to his name and second overall in Tests.
4. Allan Border – 15 centuries
Allan Border is another Australian that finds himself in the list of Most Test Hundreds as Captain. He scored as many as 15 tons as the skipper of Australia. Border-Gavaskar trophy being named after his name depicts the kind of player he was. He had been a prolific run-getter for his national side in Test cricket with 11, 174 runs to his name. 5. Steve Smith -15 centuries
Steve Smith has played an instrumental role in carrying Australia’s dominating legacy in Test cricket. There’s no brainer that he could’ve captained Australia for a long time had the sandpaper gate seen him getting suspended. He was recently appointed as the vice-captain of the Test captain. He’s considered as one of most consistent batsman in the Test cricket currently. He led team in 35 Tests and won 19 out of them. During his stint as Test skipper he smashed 15 centuries.
