Most sixes for India in Calender Year [Men’s T20I]

Indian batsmen have certainly excelled in the recent times as the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan have shown their class with the bat. Feature of these batters has been their ability to hit big and long sixes. Nicknamed as the ‘Hit-Man’, Rohit Sharma has taken on the opposition bowlers a big time whenever he has been presented with the opportunity.

Most sixes for India in Calender Year [Men’s T20I]

With big and huge sixes a feature, Surkyakumar Yadav has also joined the list in recent times. The Mumbai Indians batter is lethal, sharp and aggressive whenever it comes to clearing the fence big time. So here is a look at the batters who have excelled for Team India in the T20 format and scored most sixes in a calendar year.

1. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav leads the list with 31 sixes and will be outright favourite to record 50 sixes in the calendar year 2022. Suryakumar Yadav matched Rohit’s tally of 31 sixes in a calendar year in the Asia Cup encounter against Hong Kong. He still has a potential four more matches in the Asia Cup and two three-match series against Australia and South Africa.

With number of matches to be played in the T20 World cup and New Zealand tour, he will again  be fancying his chances as to improve on his tally. Mohammad Rizwan’s tally of 42 sixes in 2021, look in danger as things stand.

2. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma features twice on the list of most sixes in a calendar year for India in T20 format. In 2018, Rohit Sharma scored 31 sixes and enjoyed his time with the national team. The ‘Hit-Man’ has been prolific with his aggressive nature which also saw him feature on the list in 2021 as well.

Rohit scored 23 sixes in 2021, that also saw India eliminated in the group stages of the T20 World Cup. Mumbai Indians too had a poor season in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Virat and Dhawan complete the list

Delhi duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli also feature on the list as they scored 25 and 23 sixes respectively. Shikhar achieved the tally in 2018, batting alongside Rohit Sharma. Virat had a stellar 2019 and brought his tally up while enjoying form of his life.

Mohammad Rizwan has hit most sixes in a calender year

Pakistan opener and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan had a stellar 2021 that saw him become the first player to score 2000 runs in T20I in a calendar year. In the entire year he scored 42 sixes and was part of the team that reached the semifinal of the T20 World Cup.

However, Rizwan’s record is now under threat as Suryakumar along with few other names from associate nations can surpass his tally.
