The great Sachin Tendulkar with more than 34000 runs holds the world record for most runs. Tendulkar achieved the fate in career spanning for more than two decades. Interestingly, Tendulkar played in only one T20 match and his majority of the international runs came in the Test and ODI format.
He was the first player in the ODI format to score a double hundred, while he never scored a triple hundred in the Test format. Tendulkar’s tally of runs also includes 100 international centuries, also a record as he is the only player to achieve the feat.
The list contains current head coach of the Indian Cricket team Rahul Dravid. The former India captain has 24064 runs and also represented India in all three formats. Dravid could soon be replaced by Virat Kohli in the second spot, as he is the only other player to score more than 20000 runs apart from Dravid and Tendulkar.
Virat Kohli has scored 23726 runs in 463 matches and has 70 international hundreds to his name. He is also ranked third in the world for most centuries in international cricket. Virat’s average of 53.55 is the best for any player in the current top 10.
Another former India captain Sourav Ganguly is ranked fourth in the list with 18433 runs to is name. Ganguly played 421 matches at international stage. Ganguly only ever scored one double hundred for the national side and is one of the few players to have not played in the T20 format for India.
The list also contains the former World Cup winners Virender Sehwag, Sunil Gavaskar, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh in the top 10 for most runs scored by Indians in international cricket.
