Most ODI Runs for India – Indian cricket team has always been famous for the high-quality batters it produces. In ODI cricket, India has 5 batters out of the top 15 highest run-scorers in the world.

India has always been a powerhouse in the ODI format and have two world cup victories to their name in this format. The ODI format has seen a lot of changes over the years with the overs being reduced to 50 from 60 overs before and there has been a lot of changes in the fielding restrictions but India have always dominated this format.
Five Indians have breached the 10000 run mark in ODIs and all of them have been former captains for India.

1. Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar not only the highest run-scorer for India but also the highest run-scorer in the world in ODIs. He has also played the most ODI matches, scored the most hundreds, and even hit the first double hundred in ODIs at Gwalior in 2010. In a career spanning 24 years, Sachin has been a first-hand witness to all the changes the ODI format has undergone.
2. Virat Kohli
The modern-day legend, Virat Kohli has played the least number of matches among the top five but finds himself at the second spot in the most ODI runs for India. He’s a master chaser having the record of most hundreds while chasing in ODIs and his total tally of 43 hundreds is only six short of Sachin’s 49.

3. Sourav Ganguly
The only left-hander to feature in the list, Sourav Ganguly started his career as a middle-order batter but soon found his feet at the opening spot and even went on to lead the Indian ODI team to the finals of the 2003 ODI World Cup.
4. Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid wasn’t a natural in this format and had to work hard to meet the demands of this format. After being dropped from the ODI side in 1998 for his slow scoring, Dravid worked a lot on his game and returned back to the side strongly in the 1999 World Cup being the highest scorer (461) of the tournament. While his ODI career faded out after the 2007 World Cup debacle he made a couple of comebacks in 2009 and 2011 before calling it quits in 2011.

5. MS Dhoni
While all the above four batters have had the opportunity to bat at the top to accumulate the runs, MS Dhoni breached the 10000 run mark in ODIs by mainly batting in the middle-order which is in itself a remarkable achievement.
