A court in Kolkata has ordered Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami to pay a monthly alimony of ₹1.3 lakh to his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan. The couple, who have one child together, have been embroiled in controversy since 2018 when Jahan filed an FIR against Shami and members of his family for domestic violence. Shami has denied these allegations, and was briefly dropped from his national contract after additional claims of match-fixing were made by Jahan.
Mohammed Shami wife to get ₹1.3 lakh monthly alimony
A court in Kolkata has set the monthly alimony for Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami’s estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, at ₹1.3 lakh. This decision comes after a legal battle that began in 2018, when Hasin’s counsel requested a monthly alimony of ₹10 lakh, citing Shami’s annual income of over ₹7 crore in the 2020-2021 financial year.
However, Shami’s counsel argued that Hasin had her own source of income as a fashion model. The court ultimately settled on ₹1.3 lakh, with ₹50,000 designated as personal alimony and the remaining ₹80,000 going towards the maintenance of the couple’s daughter, who is currently in Hasin’s custody. Hasin’s counsel expressed gratitude for the ruling, but stated that they may appeal for a higher amount in the future.
