Australia arrived in UAE expecting a trial by spin and this is exactly what they got in the first Test against Pakistan. However surprisingly the surface at Abu Dhabi had a nice green grass covering. But pace bowler Mitchell Starc isn’t excited to see the green surface and has called it a mirage in the desert.
The grass will be gone on match day: Starc
While speaking with the media ahead of the second Test, the Aussie pace bowler said that the surface might be completely different tomorrow when they cut the grass off. He feels that if they were playing on it today, the fast bowlers would be pretty happy with the covering of grass.

The left-arm pacer believes that the grass on the pitch won’t be the there when the match starts. He stated that the players expect that grass to be gone by tomorrow and probably even less come the game day.
Starc says Australia ready for whatever is thrown at them
However, Starc also explained that the Australian team is ready for whatever Pakistan throws at them and they will try to back up from a good fight in that first Test.

The first Test ended in a draw as Australia batted for four sessions in the final innings to deny Pakistan a win after conceding a lead of 280 runs in the first innings.
Starc wants to play the second Test
In the first Test, Starc bowled more than 40 overs in searing heat and there were speculations that he may be rested for the second Test. When asked about this, Starc said that there is no such issue.
He said that he doesn’t know what the team is going to be like but he made it clear that he won’t be putting his hand up for a rest.

He said that he is feeling pretty good, and it was his only first game back for a while as well. So he is feeling pretty fresh and pretty happy with how the ball’s coming out.
The second Test between Australia and Pakistan begins from October 16.
