West Indian Legend Michael Holding has once again mocked the Indian Team on air, and this time he didn’t choose a player or the performance but the black band! It is not the first time when Holding targeted the team and passed his views and opinions. He has done it several times which helped the team as well.
On Saturday Morning, just after the start of the Third Test Match at Trent Bridge, Holding was in the commentary box. He spotted the team wearing the black band and said, “Indian players are wearing the black band not because they are 0-2 down,” and after that, he clarified the main reason behind the black band.
Talking about the Indian team’s dire situation, Holding commented on their performance in England. He also added the angle of Wadekar. Ajit was the first captain of India to lead the country to a victory in Test against England in 1971.
On Wednesday, Ajit passed away due to prolonged illness in Mumbai. The team paid tribute to the 77-year-old legend by a minute silence in Nottingham and wearing a black band during the third Test.
On Ajit, Ravi Shastri said, “I knew Ajit from a very young age. He is a great man, he lived in the same building as I did and all I will say is that he was one of our finest captains and a great manager. When it came to man management skills, he was as shrewd as anyone you will ever get as a captain.”
He was a great man and was the former chief selector of India. It is undoubtedly not a good week for us as a nation as we lost Ajit Wadekar followed by our former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. India team paid tribute to the former captain Ajit Wadekar and the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by wearing a black armband.
