RCB Playing 11: It will be the star-studded Royal Challengers Bangalore to take on the defending champions Mumbai Indians in the IPL 14 opener here at Chennai. Both the teams have some big names in their line-ups with two of the Indian cricket’s most important players leading their respective teams. These two teams have faced 27 times before with MI having an upper hand with 17 wins as compared to RCB’s 10. In the last season, these two sides produced a thriller in which RCB took the game away from Mumbai thanks to some impressive death bowling by Navdeep Saini. However, Mumbai came back strongly to take the reverse fixture.
Padikkal has joined the squad after having recovered from Covid-19 and is expected to open alongside Kohli. Legspinner Zampa will miss the match because of his marriage while NZ opener Finn Allen is serving his quarantine period. Sams has contracted Covid-19 and is in isolation. Here is how the RCB’s eleven could be shaped for this match:
RCB Playing 11 (likely)
D Padikkal
V Kohli (C)
A de Villiers
G Maxwell
M Azharuddeen (wk)
D Christian
W Sundar
K Jamieson
M Siraj
N Saini
Y Chahal
Overall, RCB looks like having a strong eleven this time with some exciting prospects like Jamieson and Azharuddeen. The eyes will be on Maxwell too as he is considered to be the X-factor for his team. They will need runs from their top players like Kohli and de Villiers to get past a strong MI team.
