Mayank Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants has impressed cricket fans during IPL 2024 by delivering the fastest ball of the season at 156.7 kmph against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Earlier, on his IPL debut against the Punjab Kings, he bowled a screamer at a speed of 155.8 km/h.
Despite injuries, Mayank’s determination and hard work have propelled him to extraordinary heights. Mayank’s success on the pitch is not solely due to his pace. His accuracy and resistance to experimentation also play a crucial role. His approach is straightforward; he bowls just short of the good-length area, making it difficult for the batters to hit the ball and score.
As a result, he got an outstanding start in the IPL. In his first two matches, he took three wickets for 27 runs and three wickets for 14 runs. He was under pressure in both matches but emerged as the Player of the Match in both games, the first player in IPL history to do so in his first two matches.

There is some debate about Gerald Coetzee’s delivery to Riyan Parag, which was clocked at 157.4 km/h a few nights ago. The broadcasters did not mention it in the list when Mayank Agarwal clocked 156.7 km/h. Even if we exclude Coetzee’s delivery, Mayank’s speed is still not among the top 3 fastest balls in the IPL.
