Australia are all set to take the series 2-1 in what would go down as one of the greatest ever bilateral test series in the history of cricket or at least in the history of Border-Gavaskar trophy. India gave everything they had and fought till the last minute in the Sydney game and managed to salvage a draw to keep the series alive.
India lost as many as 4 players who played the 3rd test to injury and they were forced to play 2 debutants in a decider at The GABBA. In the process, Mayank Agarwal was called back to the playing 11 in place of Hanuma Vihari.
Mayank Agarwal’s stunning six over long-on
It is fair to say that Australia have batted India out of the game in the 1st innings after having amassed a first innings total of 369 runs. India, who are without their best batsman in Virat Kohli and best all-rounder in Ravindra Jadeja were always going to play the catch up game against the full strength Australians.
India lost wickets at regular intervals and Australian bowlers were relentless from the word go. Mayank Agarwal who came into bat at #5 in place of Hanuma Vihari looked solid and took the attack to the off spinner Nathan Lyon straight up. He stepped down the track and hammered one over long on for a massive six.

India have avoided the follow-on which is a big victory for them considering the circumstances. Australia have taken the 2nd new ball and its only a matter of time that they come back to bat for the 2nd time in this test. In all likelihood, Australia might end up with a mammoth lead of over 100.
Australia to regain Border-Gavaskar trophy
Australia are firmly in driver’s seat and their unbeaten streak is set to continue in this game as well. Australia will be looking to give themselves at least 5 sessions to bowl out the fragile Indian batting line up.
