Indian cricket team has dealt with a massive blow ahead of the one-day series against New Zealand starting from Wednesday. As per the sources, Superstar opener Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the remainder of the New Zealand tour owing to the injury sustained in the 5th and the final T20I.
Heart of the Matter:
Rohit Sharma is the first-choice opener and a vital member of the Indian side. He was leading the Team India in the 5th T20I against New Zealand in the absence of the regular captain Virat Kohli. The Hitman was looking ominous during his innings and was looking all set for a big score.
However, the Indian vice-captain in the white-ball cricket was in discomfort due to the cramps. It was the 17th over, Rohit decided to walk off the field and got retired hurt at a score of 60.
Now the news through the BCCI sources is Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the ODI and Test series altogether.

Rohit Sharma was seen limping while walking as the team was travelling to Hamilton for the first ODI on Wednesday.
What’s next for the Team India and Rohit Sharma?
If the news indeed is true then it will come as a body-blow to the Indian Team. Rohit Sharma is the best opener in the white-ball cricket in the world at the moment. This series was also important for him to establish himself as a test-opener after getting the opportunity to open in the whites as well.
Now the selection headache also arises for the selection committee and the team management as Indian Team is currently facing the problems of plenty. In the one-day setup, KL Rahul is an obvious choice for the opening slot in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw is the front-runner for the 2nd slot.
In the test series, Mayank Agarwal is the obvious choice for the one opening slot. KL Rahul might make his return to the test cricket owing to his brilliant form in the white-ball cricket. However, the possibility of Prithvi Shaw or Shubman Gill getting a shot cannot be ruled out.
