Jayawardene believes India a clear favourite to lift the trophy
Former Sri Lankan cricketer Mahela Jayawardene has said that India are the clear favourites for the Asia Cup as India is an all-round package and they look a cut above the rest.
Jayawardene praised the Indian team in a column he wrote for a newspaper. The Sri Lankan batsman noted thatĀ despite being without their talisman and best batsman Virat Kohli, India are the favourites. He further added that the fact that India can rest such a key player and still look so strong must be very comforting for their management.

Pakistan have struggled with inconsistency: JayawardeneĀ
The former right-hand batsman noted that India’s batting is powerful and consistentĀ while their bowling attack has the necessary power to balance the potency of these kind of wickets.
Jayawardene feels that Pakistan are India’s potential opponents in the final but he pointed out that they have struggled with inconsistency throughout the tournament. According to the right-hand batsman, Pakistan’s bowling has struggled and having the option of only one front-line spinner has not helped them on these pitches.
