Hailing from Siddhartha Vidyalaya, Sedawatta, Theekshana’s cricketing journey took an intriguing turn when two former students from St. Benedict’s College, Colombo, spotted his potential. His guardians shifted him to Kotahena to play school cricket for St. Benedict’s College, where he soon began to showcase his prowess. The Cricket Wing of the college supported him financially during his formative years, culminating in his winning of the All Island Best All Rounder Award during his final year.
Theekshana’s journey took a unique twist as he joined the Sri Lanka Army, serving as a Private in the Gajaba Regiment and playing for the Army cricket team. His dedication to cricket saw him promoted to the rank of Sergeant after the Asia Cup Championship in 2022.
