Australia have decided to go with three pacers and one spinner for the first ODI versus India. Skipper Aaron Finch announced the playing XI and it does not include Ashton Turner who was roped in as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh.

Siddle, Lyon make a comeback

Australia have rested the pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Patt Cummins to manage their workloads and this has paved way for Peter Siddle’s comeback in the team.

Finch stated that for Sidds to go away and work on the skills that he has brought to the table over the last couple of years in Big Bash cricket is outstanding.

He noted that Siddle well and truly deserves his spot. He thinks that any tour you go on, Sidds is one of the first picked for what he brings to the team and the skill set he brings.

At the same time the skipper revealed that Adam’s (Zampa) very stiff to miss out on a game tomorrow. He admitted that the spinner has performed reasonably well for them in the last little bit since he’s made his comeback

He noted that it is unfortunate for him to miss but Finch feels those two (Nathan Lyon and Glenn Maxwell) together could play a really big part over the next six to 10 months.

Alex Carey to open with Finch

Finch stated that he will be opening the innings with Carey. He feels It’s just an opportunity to see Alex play in a position he’s done quite a bit in Big Bash and one-day cricket.

He feels it’s a position Carey has performed really well within the last couple of years. He’s been shuffled around the order a bit in the last little while … and he’ll get a good opportunity up there.

Australia’s playing XI-

Alex Carey, Aaron Finch (capt), Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Siddle, Nathan Lyon, Jhye Richardson
