The Lucknow Super Giants are back at their home ground, i.e., Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow for match no 30 of Tata IPL. Despite playing some good cricket, the Titans have made quite a few changes in their lineup depending on the conditions. One of the few changes includes the star pacer Alzarri Joseph who has been replaced by Afghan’s young spinner Noor Ahmed.
LSG vs GT: Why is Alzarri Joseph Not Playing Today’s IPL 2023 Match?
Gujarat Titans are squaring off against Lucknow Super Giants in an afternoon game. The surface in the afternoon is generally dry and tends to slow down a bit as the match progresses. Therefore, sidelining Alzarri Joseph for Noor Ahmed in this game seems to be a tactical move. Also, the tall West Indian pacer is not among the substitutes, meaning GT are trusting the surface to slow down and have not included their pacer. Check what skipper Hardik Pandya said at the toss,
“We will bat first. Looks like a slow track, want to get the best out of it. There is no time to test our batters now. I am sure they have would have batted first as well if they won the toss. They’re doing a fantastic job. I think on this wicket, the better option is to bat first. We’re not worried about our record while chasing. Even if the records say that we still have to do a good job. Alzarri misses out and Noor Ahmad comes in.”
