The important news update coming from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) camp is that they are once again not playing overseas fast bowler Mark Wood in their 10th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) being played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. It will be really important for the Lucknow Super Giants to make a strong winning comeback after their poor 18-run loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their previous game of the ongoing T20 competition.
LSG vs CSK: Why is Mark Wood Not Playing Today’s Match IPL?
During the toss, it was revealed that England speedster Mark Wood is once again not included in the LSG playing 11 for today’s LSG vs CSK match. Interestingly, there is no injury update on him and he is not even part of the five substitute members out of which one can come in as an Impact Player at any moment in the match. Wood was performing very well with the ball for the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2023 having taken as many as 11 wickets from 4 matches that included a brilliant five-wicket haul. Then came the big surprise as the LSG team management started playing Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq in the side from the last few games.
“We wanted to bat first, so it is even stevens. The batters can go out and express themselves. KL is a big loss, he’s a quality player but it creates an opportunity. The morale is pretty high, we are looking to play some positive cricket. Manan (Vohra) and Karan (Sharma) come in,” said Lucknow Super Giants stand-in captain Krunal Pandya during the toss.

Mark Wood IPL 2023 Price
Mark Wood, the right-arm fast bowler from England, was purchased by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 7.5 Crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction but couldn’t participate in the tournament due to an injury. Nonetheless, LSG chose to retain him for the IPL 2023 auction, despite his injury-prone record. It appears that the team management values his impact on the team and sees potential in him.
