The Lucknow Super Giants ended up losing by a margin of 18 runs during their last game of IPL 2023 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, LSG are currently occupying the third slot on the points table with 5 victories and 4 losses this season.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Lucknow Super Giants stand-in captain Krunal Pandya mentioned that Deepak Hooda is not part of the LSG playing XI for this LSG vs CSK match on Wednesday. Interestingly, despite batting first, the Indian batter is part of the five substitute members out of which one can be used as an Impact Player at any moment in the game. Hooda has experienced a horrible form with the bat during the ongoing IPL 2023 season so far having scored only 17 runs from 9 matches at a poor strike-rate of less than 90. Thus, the LSG team management are playing Karan Sharma in the side ahead of Deepak Hooda.

“We wanted to bat first, so it is even stevens. The batters can go out and express themselves. KL is a big loss, he’s a quality player but it creates an opportunity.
