The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) performed impressively well during their debut season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year where they managed to qualify for the playoffs. LSG will be taking on the Delhi Capitals in their opening match of the IPL 2023 season scheduled to be played on 1 April, 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. It will also be the first occasion when the Lucknow Super Giants will get to play in front of their home crowd.
Strongest LSG Playing XI for IPL 2023
The biggest setback for the Lucknow Super Giants is that their premier wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock will not be available atleast for the opening game against Delhi Capitals on 1 April, 2023 due to national duty. This means that the LSG team management can experiment with all-rounder Marcus Stoinis opening the batting with skipper KL Rahul. Big hitters like Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran will have to take the responsibility in the middle-order alongside the duo of Krunal Pandya and Ayush Badoni who played some amazing knocks last year in IPL 2022.
Another big blow for Lucknow Super Giants is that their premier left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan is currently doubtful for the upcoming IPL season and moreover, he hasn’t played any competitive cricket since IPL 2022. LSG can pick one of Daniel Sams or Romario Shepherd as the seam bowling all-rounder lower down the order. The positive news for the LSG fans is that speedster Mark Wood has confirmed his participation for IPL 2023 and he will accompany the pace duo of Jaydev Unadkat and Avesh Khan while Ravi Bishnoi will the frontline spinner alongside Krunal and Hooda.
