On-field banters are common in cricket, and one such instance was evident in the 3rd ODI between India and New Zealand which took place at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.
It was a banter that took place between Indian wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul and New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham. The scene took place when KL Rahul completed a run and at the bowling end, it was James Neesham who took a jibe at his Kings XI Punjab’s newly appointed skipper.
James Neesham posted a picture of the incident on his twitter handle
However, it all ended with smiles but later Neesham took to his official twitter account and posted a picture of the incident.
Don’t forget to save some runs for April aye @klrahul11 ? ?

In his tweet, he wrote, “Don’t forget to save some runs for April aye”.
It is quite obvious that the two will be donning the same colors in IPL 2020 and KL Rahul who is on a purple patch will be leading Kings XI Punjab for the first time. This tweet from the all-rounder was in context to the IPL which is all set to get underway from March 29.
He later posted one more picture with a caption: ‘Paper, scissor, rock?”

KL Rahul was quick to respond
Rahul was also in a mood to continue with the joke and replied with a tweet with his own. He wrote, “Let’s settle this in April. See u in a bit.”

Banter or sledging? Twitterati’s asked
Fans also joined this hilarious conversation and they wanted to know whether the on-field altercation was a banter or sledge?
Just to clear the air, Neesham again posted saying, “Just a banter. Nobody crossed the line.”

What is next for the ‘Men in Blue’?
It has been a pendulum sort of tour for the Indian team so far. Having clean swept the Blackcaps in the 5-match T20I series, they slumped 3-0 to the hosts in the ODI’s.
It is now time for the mother of all formats, i.e. Tests with the first of the two-Test matches scheduled to be played on February 21 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.
