Irfan Pathan BHANGRA Legends League Cricket 2022: In a thriller of a T20 encounter, the World Giants registered an amazing 5-run win over the India Maharajas during the last league match of the inaugural Legends League Cricket 2022. The victory also means that the World Giants have qualified for the finals of the T20 tournament and will now be facing the Asia Lions on 29 January, 2022 at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Muscat, Oman. Unfortunately, the India Maharajas have been knocked out of the tournament and they struggled a lot while missing some of their key players.

While chasing a mammoth target of 229 runs in a must-win encounter, the India Maharajas did not had the best of starts having lost two early wickets with just 29 runs on the scoreboard. However, veteran opening batsman Naman Ojha took the attack to the opposition bowlers scoring a wonderful innings of 95 runs off just 51 balls. India Maharajas stand-in captain Yusuf Pathan also smashed a quick-fire knock of 45 runs off only 22 balls and during that innings, the right-hander hit Brett Lee for a monstrous 95 metre six. While reacting to Yusuf’s brilliant strike, Irfan Pathan was seen celebrating by performing ‘Bhangra’ sitting in the dugout.

After losing the toss and being put in to bat first, the World Giants posted a massive first innings total of 228 for 5 in their quota of 20 overs. Herschelle Gibbs smacked a fabulous innings of 89 runs off only 46 balls that included of 7 sixes and as many fours while Phil Mustard too scored a fine knock of 57 runs.

In reply, the India Maharajas continued to lose wickets at regular intervals which proved to be a major hindrance in their run-chase. Naman Ojha played another exciting innings of 95 runs, however, it was Irfan Pathan who contributed with an astonishing knock of 56 runs off just 21 balls that consisted of 6 sixes and 3 fours but it wasn’t enough to help the India Maharajas cross the line. Towards the end, Brett Lee held his nerves successfully defending 8 runs in the 20th over of the match.
