Kohli attributed India’s lack of experience as the main reason for India’s loss in 2014 against England in a pre-match match press conference ahead of India’s fourth Test.
Talking about India’s tour of England in 2014, Kohli said that the team didn’t have enough experience to capitalize on the winning momentum.
“We probably didn’t have the experience to carry forward the momentum of our Lord’s win. This is what I feel.”
“We are in an exciting position right now and we have gained momentum at the right moment,” he said.
Kohli also confirmed R Ashwin’s fitness saying that he was fit to play the fourth Test against England and he also hinted that he would field an unchanged playing XI on Thursday.
India have tinkered with their playing combination for last 45 Tests with Kohli fielding 38 teams in 38 different matches. However, this time he has said that he doesn’t need to change the playing combination.
Talking about the team Virat said, “Everyone is fit to start tomorrow against England. Ashwin has also recovered from his injury and now he is good to go.”
“We have not made any random changes. There have been injuries as well in the squad but nobody has taken it into consideration. It has been a mix of both so far. Things are going good right now and we do not think that we need to change anything,” Kohli added.
India will be playing its fourth Test in The Rose Bowl. When India last met England in the same venue, the visitors had lost by 266 runs.
“To have played like that at 2-0 down, when everyone thought that is going to a clean sweep but we made a comeback,” he added.
Talking about Indian pace attack, Kohli said, “You feel really confident when you see that your bowlers are doing good. Making 800 or 1000 runs doesn’t matter if you don’t take wickets.”
The Rose Bowl stadium in Southampton has only hosted two Tests so far and this match against India is going to be the third one.
