Team India kicked-off its New Year with two consecutive victories against their all-time tough competitor Australia, and now it is ready for another challenging tour of New Zealand. The team under the captaincy of Virat Kohli is all set to begin the 5-match T20I series in Eden Park in Auckland. Now while the team has reached its next destination, captain Kohli was out and about in the city with his teammates was seen enjoying a “good meal” after a gym session.

A tough workout session for team Kohli before the “heavy meal”

Virat posted a picture on his twitter with his teammates Ravindra Jadeja, K L Rahul and Manish Pandey where they were relishing a sizzling bowl of food. Kohli captioned the image, “Top team session and a good meal out in beautiful Auckland @@im_manishpandey, @imjadeja, @klrahul11.”

Earlier when the team landed in Auckland on Tuesday, Kohli had shared a selfie picture with batsman Shreyas Iyer and fast bowler Shadrul Thakur, captioning: “Touchdown Auckland. Let’s go.”

Team India all set to play the first T20I in Auckland on Friday

The 5-match T20 international series will start from 24th January on Friday, where the first match will be played in Eden Park in Auckland. The T20I series will be followed by three One-Day International and two Tests series respectively. Opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out from the squad due to his shoulder injury. In his place, Sanju Samson has been called up for T20I side while Prithvi Shaw will replace Dhawan in One-Day.

However, it is important to mention here that last year around the same time when India visited New Zealand, the result was not favourble. Till now, India has played 5 international T20 matches in New Zealand out of which they were able to register a win in just one.

Right now, the team is in fantastic form after winning two back to back series against Sri Lanka and Australia respectively. And Virat was the most successful batsman in the series against Australia as he made 183 runs, which included two half-centuries. The skipper helped team India to clinch the three-match ODI series against Australia and was named as player of the series.
