India’s newest batting maestro in the limited-overs format KL Rahul was involved in an Instagram live chat session with TV reporter Suhail Chandok. The talented batsman from Karnataka was asked who would he prefer to bat for life.
Without much thinking, he named the Indian captain Virat Kohli who has been an epitome of batting in this generation.
Here’s what KL Rahul had to say
Pinning out Virat Kohli as the greatest batsman across formats, KL Rahul said;
“I will bat myself as I value my life the most. I think I would pick Virat (Kohli) because I know, everybody knows he is a great player. We share a great friendship and he will give it all to save my life.”
Apart from playing side by side in national outfits, both KL Rahul and Virat Kohli have represented the same franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL over the past and share a great friendship bond.
Before moving to Kings XI Punjab in 2018 courtesy a lucrative deal from Preity Zinta, KL Rahul represented Royal Challengers Bangalore for two years from 2016-2017 and used to open the batting alongside the ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle.
The stylish right-hander who made his Test debut in 2014, is one the batting mainstays of the current Indian limited-overs setup. Over the past 4-5 months, he has been India’s lynchpin and has proven his worth time and time again.
KL Rahul has been named as the skipper for Kings XI Punjab
Talking about his IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab, the team management has made him the new face of the franchise by giving him the captaincy hat for this season. It is needless to say what character he had put over the past two years for Kings XI, and somewhere everyone knew this was coming.
With an added responsibility to lead the side, the 26-year old would be under the scanner to check his temperament in nerdy situations and will have to cope up under pressure in the IPL.
