The big news development coming from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp is that they are once again not playing in-form batter Venkatesh Iyer in the starting XI for their fourth encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) taking place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Kolkata Knight Riders are coming off a spectacular 3-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in their last match courtesy Rinku Singh’s unbelievable finish. KKR will want to extend this winning momentum further in IPL 2023 as well.
KKR vs SRH: Why is Venkatesh Iyer Not Playing Today’s IPL 2023 Match?
During the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Nitish Rana stated that Venkatesh Iyer is not included in the KKR playing XI for today’s KKR vs SRH IPL 2023 match. However, the left-handed batsman is absolutely fit and part of the five substitute members out of which one can be used as an Impact Player at any moment in the game. Incidentally, Iyer also came in as an Impact Player during the last game against Gujarat Titans and smashed a blistering knock of 83 runs off just 40 balls that included 8 fours and 5 sixes. The Kolkata Knight Riders have once again backed domestic batsman N Jagadeesan who failed to contribute much with the bat in his debut outing for KKR against Gujarat Titans.
“We’ll bowl first. We’ve been practicing here and there has been dew. Keeping in mind, we want to chase. Same XI for today,” said Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana during the toss.

Venkatesh Iyer IPL 2023 Price
The Kolkata Knight Riders took a really big call when they retained Venkatesh Iyer for a massive amount of INR 8 Crore ahead of the IPL 2022 auction. During IPL 2021, Iyer smashed a total of 370 runs from just 10 games at a strike-rate of nearly 130 that included as many as 4 half-centuries. However, despite a poor IPL 2022 season, KKR still decided to retain him for IPL 2023.
