KKR vs SRH IPL 2024 Match 3: Why is Umran Malik not playing today’s match?

Umran Malik’s absence from the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lineup in the IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could indeed be attributed to his poor run of form in the last IPL edition. However, he is named in the list of substitutes who can play a part in the match.
As a relatively young and emerging player, Umran Malik might have faced challenges adapting to the demands and intensity of the IPL, leading to inconsistent performances or a lack of impact in the previous season.
In T20 cricket, where competition is fierce and performances are closely scrutinized, players are often judged based on recent form and contributions to the team’s success. If Umran Malik struggled to make an impact or failed to live up to expectations in the last IPL edition, it’s understandable that the team management might opt for other bowling options who are currently in better form or have displayed more consistency.

Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain at Toss: We gonna have a bowl, wicket looks pretty good. Jansen, Klaasen and Markram are the other three. This is my first game for Sunrisers, it’s been awesome in the camp to the lead-up and the confidence is really high in the group.
