After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer revealed the big news that they have finally dropped the out-of-form Venkatesh Iyer from the playing 11. He was retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction at a whopping price of INR 12.5 Crore but the left-handed batsman has failed to deliver the goods this season. Venkatesh has managed to score just 132 runs from 9 games in IPL 2022 that includes only one half-century and a poor strike-rate of below 100.

We need to play fearless cricket. We have two changes. Roy comes in for Venky and Mavi comes in. It’s important to have the right combination. We are trying to give as many matches as possible to the players, but it’s also important to get the right combinations,” said Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer during the toss.

The Kolkata Knight Riders have made as many as two changes to their playing XI from the last loss against Delhi Capitals. The duo of Anukul Roy and Shivam Mavi have replaced Venkatesh Iyer and Harshit Rana respectively in the side.
