KKR vs MI IPL Stats :  Defending champions Mumbai Indians defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs in the 5th match of Indian Premier League 2021 in Chennai and registered their first win of this season.

Earlier Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to field first. Varun Chakravarthy gave them a good start by removing Quinton de Kock cheaply. Suryakumar Yadav continued his good form and played some good shots. His 56 runs knock had set the platform for a big score, captain Rohit also looked settled but Pat Cummins dismissed Rohit for 43 runs and after that Mumbai Indians batsmen lost the plot and kept losing wickets regularly and resultant they bowled out for 152 runs on the last ball of innings. They lost their last seven wickets for 37 runs. For Knight Riders Andre Russell took 5 wickets in just 2 overs.
In reply Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill gave a good start of 72 runs and set the match in Knight Riders’ favour. Spinner Rahul Chahar picked back to back wickets and tried to brought his team back into the game. Nitish Rana brought up his fifty and in the last five overs they needed only 31 runs with six wickets in hand but Mumbai Indians bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Krunal Pandya bowled very well and didn’t allow Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell to score runs. Resultant in the last over they needed 15 runs to win but Trent Boult gave only four runs and took two important wickets and thus Mumbai registered a great win.
