After having lost the toss and being asked to bat first, the Lucknow Super Giants captain Krunal Pandya noted that Kyle Mayers is still not part of the starting LSG playing XI for today’s KKR vs LSG match. He is still included in the substitutes list but the Lucknow Super Giants cannot use him as an Impact Player because they are already playing four overseas players, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Naveen-ul-Haq and Quinton de Kock. LSG’s decision to exclude Mayers comes as a surprise considering his exceptional batting form. He displayed remarkable consistency at the top, accumulating an impressive total of 361 runs from 12 games in IPL 2023. With a striking strike-rate of over 144, Mayers contributed significantly to his team’s success, notching up four half-centuries along the way.

“We would’ve also fielded first. At the end of the day, you have to play good cricket. We know where we stand in the table. Our destiny is in our hands. Focus is on playing good cricket. We defended really well in previous game. Eventually what matters is how we come today, put a total on the board and defend it. Couple of changes – instead of Hooda, we have Karan. And Gowtham comes in for Swapnil,” said Lucknow Super Giants captain Krunal Pandya during the toss.
