The 2-times IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have announced their skipper for the upcoming IPL season. The lad from New Delhi Nitish Rana is all set to lead the Knight Riders in IPL 2023 after regular skipper Shreyas Iyer has been sidelined from at least the first half the season due to a back injury.

The KKR team management have ponder their faith on the talented young left-hander to lead the side in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. KKR didn’t have a great season last time around as they failed to make it to the playoffs. They did their homework in the 2023 IPL auctions and formed a formidable ahead of the season, but Shreyas’ injury is a big blow for them. Nitish Rana pipped Sunil Narine to become KKR’s captain
The new KKR Captain Rana had a tussle against his teammate and one of KKR’s mainstays for the skipper role Sunil Narine, but the team management appointed Rana ahead of the experienced left-hander. Rana has been a part of the franchise since 2018 and has been a regular member of the playing XI. On the other hand, Sunil Narine started playing IPL from the 2012 season and has represented only KKR in all these years. It is a great opportunity for a young gun like Nitish Rana to lead the side and he will get ample support from senior pros like Andre Russell, Shakib Al Hasan, and Sunil Narine.
