Dinesh Karthik could captain KKR: Dinesh Karthik has recently stated that he wouldn’t mind being the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders once again if given the opportunity. There were plenty of talks during the first half of IPL 2021 about whether Eoin Morgan is the right man to lead the two time champions.
KKR struggled in the first half of the tournament, as they find themselves at the 7th spot with just four points to their names courtesy two wins and five defeats. Apart from his captaincy, Morgan wasn’t having the best of time with the bat as well, as he got dismissed cheaply more often than not.
But one of the key reasons why Karthik could be handed the captaincy role is if Eoin Morgan remains unavailable due to national commitments.
It was recently found out that premium fast bowler Pat Cummins will be missing out on IPL Phase 2, and that too can be the case with Morgan.
Dinesh Karthik ready to captain KKR again
“Pat Cummins has himself said that he will not come. But when it comes to Eoin Morgan, there are still three months to go. A lot can change from now till September. But if I am asked to lead, I will be ready for it,” Dinesh Karthik was quoted saying.

IPL 2021 Staring Date
The IPL second half is expected to take place from September 17, with the finals likely to be held on October 9 in the UAE later this year. The BCCI are determined that the remaining 31 fixtures will be contested in a 24 day window.
However, one of the major concerns for the governing body is the availability of foreign players. Cricket boards from England, New Zealand, and West Indies already have a packed schedule during September and October. But it is being said, that the BCCI will soon be holding a meeting with all boards to come with a solution that works with everyone’s best interest.
