Leading South African pacer Kagiso Rabada heaped praise on Indian captain Virat Kohli for his sheer consistency on the field and as someone who serves as a source of inspiration.

Rabada has established himself as the main striker bowler across three formats for the Proteas, while Kohli is considered as one of the best batsmen in the world at the moment, if not the best, and averages over 50 in all three formats.

During a chat show, the Delhi Capitals bowler was asked who he respects the most, and who has pushed him to his limits, the 24-year-old said,

“If you look at one day cricket, I’d say Virat Kohli is the most consistent performer, he is consistent in Test cricket as well.”

Not the first comment on Kohli

This was not the first time Rabada commented on Kohli. Ahead of the clash between India and South Africa in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, Rabada called Kohli “immature”, with the Indian captain reacting by saying he would prefer a man-to-man discussion.

“Maybe he does it because it gets him going, but that comes across as very immature for me. He is a phenomenal player but he can’t take the abuse.”

Rabada praises Steve Smith and Kane Williamson

Rabada also lauded Steve Smith and Kane Williamson, two batsmen who always draw the comparison with Kohli, as well as England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes.

“I even like the work of Ben Stokes, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson,” he added.

Rabada made a phenomenal start to his cricket career. He has taken 197 wickets in 43 Tests, also scalping 117 ODI wickets in just 75 games.

Rabada aims for the World Cup

Considering the huge success Rabada achieved in a short span of time, he was asked whether he is at the height of his power, but the South African star said he is looking to get even better and wants to win the world cup for his country.

“Well, it was an ambition of mine to be where I am today. So glad to have reached that pinnacle. All I want to do now is focus on a few things that would make me play better, win a World Cup, that’d be amazing.”
