Bairstow hit wicket

Jonny Bairstow Hit Wicket: A quite unusual mode of dismissal happened in the 2nd T20I of the ongoing series between England and Australia. The match saw England’s opening batsman Jonny Bairstow getting dismissed of a hit-wicket. It happened while attempting to pull a bouncer of Aussie quick Mitchell Starc’s bowling. The incident has created waves in social media and the footage of the same is now trending.

The incident happened during the third delivery of the third over when Bairstow was beaten for pace as he attempted to pull a quick-fire bouncer of Mitchell Starc. The bouncer forced Bairstow to do a ballet-turn and hence he ended up crashing on to his own stumps thereby ending his short stay at the crease. He looked in great touch during his short stay at the crease. He had already hit two outstanding boundaries and was batting at 9 runs from 11 balls.

This dismissal is a major setback for Bairstow as he is already coming back after scoring a string of three single-digit scores in his last four innings. His numbers at the top of the order haven’t been impressive since the last couple of months, and considering the amount of competition in the England side for that opening slot, things are not looking good for Bairstow at the moment.

To add to that this dismissal earned him an unwanted record of being the first Englishman and 14th man overall to be out hit wicket in a T20I match.

England seals the series with a comfortable win

As far as the match is concerned, Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and he chose to bat. Australia struggled with the bat after the star batsman David Warner was dismissed for a duck. They ended their innings on 157/7 in 20 overs, courtesy of a well-controlled  40 (33) from Captain Aaron Finch. England’s Chris Jordan was the pick of their bowlers with the bowling figures of 4-0-40-2.

In reply, England chased down this target in 18.5 overs courtesy of a 54 ball 77 from Jos Buttler and 32 ball 42 from the ever so consistent Dawid Malan.
