MS Dhoni Last IPL 2021: Much like the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the millions of cricket fans out there are desperately waiting to see the return of their favourite MS Dhoni back in action. After a sudden retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, people had great curiosity to know whether the much-loved Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper will continue to play in the IPL 2021 season or not. However, MS Dhoni himself quashed all such reports by stating that the 2020 league-stage game against Punjab is ‘definitely not’ his last IPL game.

Is this MS Dhoni’s Last IPL season?
Once again before yet another IPL season, the fans are already wondering that having not played much of cricket in the recent while, this year could be perhaps MS Dhoni’s last IPL season. However, CSK CEO Viswanathan has opined that this might not be Dhoni’s final year in the IPL. The former Indian captain has captained the Chennai-based franchise since the inception of the IPL in 2008 barring the two years, 2016 and 2017 where they were serving a ban.
“See, I don’t think it is going to be his final year. This is my personal view and I don’t think we are looking at anybody now,” CSK CEO Viswanathan was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
MS Dhoni shares a strong bond with the fans and the people associated with the Chennai Super Kings as witnessed over the years in the IPL. Barring a dismal season last year in the UAE, the MS Dhoni-led team have made it to the playoffs in ten out of eleven seasons having won the prestigious title thrice. In 204 IPL matches, Dhoni has scored 4632 runs at an average of 40.99 and a strike-rate of 136.76.

IPL 2021: Who will be the four overseas players in CSK’s playing 11?
Chennai Super Kings will start their IPL 2021 campaign against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 10 in Mumbai. It will be really difficult for the CSK team management to pick their first-choice four overseas cricketers in the playing XI for the first game. With a brilliant performance in the last season, Sam Curran and Faf du Plessis are the likely starters with Moeen Ali and Dwayne Bravo expected to fit in the combination.
