Ruturaj Gaikwad injury update IRE vs IND: The India white-ball team is currently involved in a two-match T20I series against Ireland. The Hardik Pandya-led Indian side went on to register an incredible 7-wicket victory over the Irish team during the opening T20I encounter on Sunday. The Men in Blue have now taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match T20I series and both the teams will be locking horns for the second and final game on 28 June, 2022 at the Castle Avenue in Dublin.

While chasing a target of 109 runs in 12 overs, India surprised everyone when Deepak Hooda came out as a makeshift opening partner alongside Ishan Kishan. After the game, Team India captain Hardik Pandya cleared the air by revealing that opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad sustained a calf niggle during Ireland’s innings with the bat. This is the major reason for India making last minute changes in the batting order. It is very much unlikely that Gaikwad will be able to attain complete fitness for the 2nd T20I match against Ireland scheduled on Tuesday.

“Ruturaj had a calf niggle, and we had a chance to send him out by taking some risk. But I was not okay. For me a player’s health is more important, the match will take care of itself. So we didn’t make much of a change, whatever everyone’s number was we went one place up. And it was not much of a headache. It was important to make sure Rutu was not put under much risk and take much of a chance with him,” said India captain Hardik Pandya.

India vs Ireland: Probable India Playing 11

In the absence of Ruturaj Gaikwad, India are very much likely to hand over T20I debut cap to Rahul Tripathi as Ishan Kishan’s opening partner for the second and final T20I match. It will be interesting to see whether the visitors will play Sanju Samson in the playing 11 or not.
