IPL Franchises Covid-19 Donations: These are serious testing times for the people of India amidst the vast spread Covid-19 second wave in the entire country. India has been reporting close to 4 lakh Covid-19 cases daily and the entire country is suffering due to the lack of proper medical facilities especially the shortage of oxygen supplies is the major worry right now. Many of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have also come forward to support the country in this massive battle against the deadly coronavirus.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli recent released a video announcing financial assistance towards the infrastructure ‘related to oxygen support’ in India’s battle against Covid-19. Kohli mentioned that the RCB franchise has identified key areas in many parts of the country where there is a serious dearth of oxygen supplies and thus, they will be making a financial contribution for the same. The RCB captain also stated that the team will be sporting a special blue jersey in one of the upcoming matches to pay respect to all the front line heroes who have spent majority of the last year wearing PPE kits in leading the fight against the pandemic.

“RCB has identified key areas where much needed help is required immediately in healthcare infrastructure related to Oxygen support in Bangalore and other cities, and will be making a financial contribution towards this,” RCB captain Virat Kohli said in a video posted by the franchise.
“The RCB is going to be sporting a special Blue jersey in one of the upcoming matches with key messaging on our match kits to pay our respect and show solidarity to all the front line heroes who have spent majority of last year wearing PPE kits & leading the fight against the pandemic,” he added.
“RCB will also auction all the signed player jerseys from this game to raise money and add to our earlier financial contribution supporting healthcare infrastructure. We urge all of you to stay safe at home and get vaccinated at the earliest opportunity,” Kohli concluded.
Just like RCB, the Rajasthan Royals have also come forward and donated a sum worth $ 1 Million to support the people of India in this challenging fight against coronavirus second wave. The Delhi Capitals have announced a contribution of INR 1.5 crore for this great noble cause.

IPL 2021: Cricketers also stand up for the Nation
Former Indian cricketer and Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, has also announced a donation of INR 1 crore towards Mission Oxygen in India’s fight against the deadly virus. KKR speedster Pat Cummins donated a sum worth 50,000 $ to the PM Cares’ Fund for the purchase of oxygen supplies in the country while former Australia fast bowler Brett Lee announced a contribution of 1 Bitcoin (worth around 48 lakhs) in order to support the people of India in these tough times. There are many more such names from the entire cricketing fraternity who have contributed towards this noble cause and are standing with the nation in this fight against Covid-19.
