All ten Indian Premier League (IPL) team captains will assemble in Mumbai on Thursday for a pre-season briefing. The meeting, scheduled for noon at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters, will also include team managers. The BCCI has invited all franchise representatives to ensure they are well-prepared for the upcoming season.
Meeting Agenda and Schedule
According to emails sent by the BCCI and IPL management, the gathering is expected to last for an hour. During this time, teams will be briefed on new additions and rule changes for the season. Following the meeting at the Cricket Centre, captains and team representatives will head to the Taj Hotel for sponsor-related activities.
The entire event will span about four hours, concluding with the traditional captains’ photo shoot. Typically, these sessions take place in the city hosting the season opener. However, shifting the event to the BCCI office indicates that something beyond the usual rule clarifications might be on the agenda.
Confirmed Captains and Preparations
All team captains for IPL 2025 have been confirmed, with Axar Patel recently appointed as the Delhi Capitals skipper. The complete list of captains is as follows:
- Hardik Pandya (MI)
- Pat Cummins (SRH)
- Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK)
- Rajat Patidar (RCB)
- Rishabh Pant (LSG)
- Shreyas Iyer (PBKS)
- Sanju Samson (RR)
- Ajinkya Rahane (KKR)
- Shubman Gill (GT)
Most captains have already joined their respective squads, including players returning from the Champions Trophy. Pat Cummins arrived in Hyderabad on Sunday and confirmed his full availability for the season, despite the World Test Championship final scheduled for June 11 at Lord’s—just two weeks after the IPL final on May 25.
The tournament kicks off on March 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, where defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the season opener.
