IPL Auction 2020: 3 Middle-class Boys who became Millionaires

Every IPL Auction 2020 brings larger than life stories for some of India’s young cricketers and their families. This year was also no different as we take a look at stories of India’s 3 young players who became ‘Millionaires’ in the IPL Auction 2020.

Ravi Bishnoi

Coming from a middle-class family in Rajasthan, Ravi always wanted to be a Fast bowler but he took up Leg-Spin after getting some professional coaching. His father wanted him to give up on cricket and take up studies after Ravi was not picked in a U16 game. He will be part of the Indian team for ICC U19 Cricket World Cup to be held at South Africa during Jan next year. He used to bowl at nets of Rajasthan Royals in earlier seasons of IPL. Now, He will be playing for Kings XI Punjab after being bought up by them for whopping 2 Cr.

Kartik Tyagi

Unusual for a fast bowler to have role models for likes of Rahul Dravid, but the story is exactly true for Kartik Tyagi who couldn’t control his emotions when he met his idol for the very first time at India U19 trials at NCA. And now he will be playing for Rajasthan Royals, the team that Dravid associated with for a number of years, in IPL 2020. He belongs to a Farmer family of a small village in Uttar Pradesh. He has the canny ability to make the ball talk at the express pace of 145 KPH. Kartik is also a part of India U19 WC squad.

Virat Singh

If you do not get disappointed after failures and continue to work on your game, results will follow one day. That’s exactly has happened to Jamshedpur’s Virat Singh. Part of a couple of IPL auctions earlier, this flamboyant Left Hander wasn’t picked up by any of the teams. He was also a part of India U19 teams at various stages but failed to make a lasting impression. But like his famous Namesake, he continued to hone his skills. He had already made name for himself in east zone circuit with his hard-hitting abilities even before entering into first-class cricket. Coming off from a fantastic Vijay Hazare Trophy this year, he is now picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 2020 season.
